Blue Rivera is a multifaceted four-piece alternative rock band from Vancouver, BC. Initially founded as a school project by twin brothers Julian and Joaquin Borderas, Blue Rivera grew into a formal rock band with the later addition of sibling Hector Borderas and Stephen Coley. While mostly tied to an indie and alternative rock style, they occasionally venture into an early 2000s Latin rock inspired sound. Working alongside audio engineer Nic Charuk, Blue Rivera has released a new EP called sleeping (2025) , following c’est la vie (2024) , the band’s first fully collaborative EP. Notable performances include Canada Together — the largest Canada Day festival outside of Ottawa — the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival two years in a row, and opening for American touring acts Beach Vacation and Durry. Blue Rivera prides itself in its Mexican-Canadian background and francophone roots.
