DOOR D'OR

Door d’Or create songs filled with hope and an awakening spirit. Reuniting after years apart, Mike Ison, Mat Geddes, and Darin Steinkey rediscovered their sound in a jam space known for its golden door—a symbol of shelter, friendship, and renewal. Rooted in improvisation and connection, their music invites listeners on a journey through shadows toward something luminous. Blending atmospheric guitars, post-punk textures, and melodic tension, their debut album, The Exquisite Dream channels Door d’Or’s live energy into a focused studio statement that balances introspection with an optimistic outlook. The album explores themes of illusion, transformation, and the possibility of a more conscious future, offering songs that acknowledge the weight of the present while reaching toward something brighter. The Exquisite Dream captures the spirit of a band finding its voice – one grounded in friendship, chemistry, and a shared desire to create something meaningful close to home. Embracing the idea of a “100-mile album,” the project was conceived, recorded, and produced entirely on Vancouver Island, drawing deeply from the surrounding community and landscape. Produced by JUNO Award-winning producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer), the album was recorded in fall 2025 and later mastered by renowned engineer Steve Turnidge (author of Beyond Mastering: A Conceptual Guide). Completing the full-circle Island approach, the band’s debut vinyl pressing is being produced locally at Wrecking Crew Studios in Sidney, BC. Serving as the album's third single, “In The Radiance” is a warm, expansive track that stands as one of the album’s most distinctly Canadian moments. Sonically laid-back yet uplifting, the song carries a sense of openness and light while weaving together philosophical themes of reincarnation and transcendence. “There is an homage to The Tragically Hip in this song because we are absolutely influenced by the energy of their live shows that inspired millions over their incredible run,” says vocalist and guitarist Mat Geddes. “The Hip are holy in our hearts and minds.” That reverence is felt throughout “In The Radiance,” where easygoing grooves and glowing textures meet a deeper lyrical exploration of life, death, and continuity. The track’s balance of introspection and warmth reflects the broader spirit of The Exquisite Dream – a record rooted as much in reflection as it is in forward motion. The Exquisite Dream is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit doordor.ca.
